2 other reasons I can get behind EDGEMAN on that


1) Basketball is a multi-day event so day trips are off the table (though some might do it for one game). With football, you might day trip or since it's usually in the evening a quick one night trip.

2) With basketball, I know my team is going to play at least 1 game at the site. I can plan that longer trip months in advance. With football, you may not know if you care to be there until the week before at which point it's much harder to figure out how you are going to make a long trip or buy plane tickets, etc.

Obviously when dealing with travel distance, it's more about the biggest group of people it applies to. The Miami fans in Miami can't really be in the typical fan's driving range for many sites past Jacksonville. Similarly the Boston College fan, though I don't personally know him, probably isn't driving past New York.
